Mandelic acid is regarded as the most effective alpha-hydroxy acid for alleviating blemished and hyper-pigmented skin. We have combined mandelic acid with liquorice root extract - a well regarded agent for inhibiting the excess melanin production that is the cause of blemishes and hyper-pigmentation.

Mandelic Acid - A member of the alpha hydroxy family, its principal role is to exfoliate dead skin cells from the surface of the skin to promote a smoother, brighter, and clearer complexion. Use of AHA's will not only improve the appearance of the complexion but will also stimulate collagen production which will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Mandelic acid is regarded as being the most effective AHA in improving blemishes and hyper-pigmentation. Mandelic Acid unlike other AHA's also has the ability to improve acne prone skin by having the ability to decongest blocked pores and follicles (an underlying cause of acne and spots)

Liquorice extract - The reason why liquorice extract, as an active ingredient, is effective for lightening the skin is due to the compound glabridin. It suppresses pigmentation by stalling melanin production. Often, the skin can become discoloured due to conditions such as melasma and chloasma. Plus, long-term exposure to the sun can result in age spots and hyper pigmentation. When their effects are visible - especially in the areas around the face and eyes - topical formulations that include liquorice extract can help reduce the variances in skin tone. Topical application of products containing liquorice extract has been shown to have few side effects, and incidents of allergic reactions, irritation, and redness are rare. This is likely due to the natural anti-inflammatory properties of glabridin.

Rosewater - tones the skin. Research suggests that rosewater can protect the skin against the damaging effects of sun light. Rosewater controls and balances sebum production, making it useful for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore the skin's Ph and helps tighten pores. Mandelic Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (from the same family as Glycolic and Lactic acid) but has properties similar to those of beta-hydroxy acids (salicylic acid). Directions - Apply daily. Take a small amount of the liquidl and massage gently into the skin until absorbed. If you use a moisturising cream use this liquid before applying any creams.
